Ice House America Introduces Ice Vending Technology To Tucson

Company Already Has Commitments for 227 Franchised Units Between Arizona, California and Utah

Jacksonville, FL (January 23, 2013) – Ice House America, the pioneer in automated ice vending technology, announced today the installation of Tucson’s first Twice The Ice® freestanding ice vending machines located at 2524 S. Wilmot Road and 944 W. Prince Road. Ice House America products offer a 24/7, convenient free standing retail ice destination offering a soft, chipped and chewable ice, which is typically sold in 20 lb. bulk ice (direct to cooler) and 16 lb. bagged ice – always filtered, clean and made on demand.

This announcement follows on the heels of the company’s recently created franchise program to further expand its existing network of over 2,400 independently-owned locations, which collectively produce over one billion pounds of ice per year. In less than a year since starting the franchise program, the company has commitments for 227 units between California, Utah, Arizona and New York. The company continuously seeks additional entrepreneurs who are seeking a low cost and fully automated business venture with minimal overhead and maintenance required to operate.

Joe Tooke, Ice House America’s first franchise area developer, plans to open 10 Ice House America locations in the next 12 months and 50 units over five years in the greater Tucson area, including Nogales. As an area developer, Tooke is looking for additional franchisees to own and operate within his territory. Ice House America market development opportunities exist in all 50 states. However, the primary franchise development focus is in the Northeast, Southwest and Midwest. The company plans to open 300 new units in 2013 and 1,000 in the next three years.

“Ice House America is proud to introduce ice vending to Tucson, and Joe Tooke as the company’s first-ever franchise area developer,” says Pete Cotter, CEO of Ice House America. “Tucson residents will love the ‘fresh, made on-demand and never touched by human hands aspect’ of the ice produced.”

Ice House America offers three different models, which are all manufactured at a 160,000 sq. ft. integrated manufacturing facility located in Moultrie, GA. These free standing, automated ice vending machines can be installed anywhere there is electricity and potable water access. Ice House America models typically require about 200 sq ft., about the size of two parking spaces and are conveniently located in retail center parking lots. Each Ice House can produce more than 12,000 lbs. of ice in a 24-hour period, making it the most efficient icemaker in its class.
